Henry F. Ott, 77, Milwaukee, died Saturday, May 4, 1996, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 1996, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Milwaukee. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Henry F. Ott was born on June 21, 1918, on a farm near Neillsville, Clark County, to Albert and Marie Ott. By the age of 17, he worked for the Clark County Journal, which merged with the Neillsville Press to become the Clark County Press. In 1941, he moved to Loyal to cover sports and other news for the weekly Loyal Tribune. He married Esther Beaver on Sept. 26, 1946. She survives. He was elected to Loyal's first city council in 1948. The Otts moved to Dubuque in 1950, where he worked at the Daily Telegraph Herald and five years later they moved to Mount Morris, Ill., where he worked for a printing company. In 1957, he was hired as a proofreader at The Milwaukee Journal, working there 21 years before he retired. He played for three seasons for the West Allis Flyers, a semi-pro hockey team. He was an umpire and a member of the Wisconsin Umpires Association. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish Council, Usher's Society and Chairman for the Archbishop's Relief Fund secretary-treasurer for Southside Catholic Dartball League for 11 years and secretary of Sweet 16 Couple Bowling League a former member of Moose Lodge 49.

Survivors include his wife seven children, Laura Jeanne (Charles) Kainz, Oceanside, Cal. Carol (Robert) Jendrzejek, Wind Lake Deborah (Jeffrey) Doughty, West Allis and John Ott, Milwaukee Robert (Janice) Ott, Milwaukee Melvin Ott, Milwaukee and Randolph (Jean) Ott, Milwaukee six brothers and sisters, Ruth (Manfred) Benduhn, Louie (Francis) Kipp, Leana (Harry) Pankau, Edgar (Betty) Ott, Doris (James) Simenson, and Wendel (Dorothy) Ott his mother-in-law, Anna Beaver 17 grandchildren six great-grandchildren brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents.
