Hanley, Irene Lucy (28 DEC 1915 - 17 MAR 2002)


THORP - Irene Lucy Hanley, 86, of Thorp, died March 17, 2002, at Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Thorp.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

She was born Dec. 28, 1915, to Ben and Mabel (nee Phillips) Babbitt. She married Harold A. Hallanger on May 20, 1939, in Iowa, and he died in 1975. She married James Hanley of Stanley and he later died. She and Harold managed Hallanger Hotel and Boarding House, bowling alley, pool hall, beauty shop, egg market and a small dairy farm.

She is survived by her son, Harold M. (Ingrid) Hallanger of Thorp two stepdaughters, Karrin Nayes of Stanley and Jane (Terry) Boardman of Greenville, N.C. three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ben Babbitt of Thorp and Dale Babbitt of Eau Claire.
