Suda, Louis (21 OCT 1905 - 4 OCT 1984)


A former Owen and Greenwood, Clark County resident died Thursday, Oct. 4, 1984 in Deer Lodge, Mont.

Memorial Mass of the Resurrection was held Monday, Oct. 8th at 11:00 in Deer Lodge's Immaculate Conception Church for Louis F. Suda, 78.

He was born Oct. 21, 1905 to Joseph and Antonia Suda in Muscoda, Wis. , where he attended schools and worked at a family dairy farm.

He owned the Wildwood Cheese Factory, Greenwood, from 1931 to 1943, then farmed by Longwood from 1943 to 1947. He bought the Longwood Store in 1947, which he operated until 1951.

In 1951 he moved to Whitehall, Mont. and worked at an area cheese factory. He moved to Warm Springs, Mont. in 1953, and was employed as a cheesemaker for the state Dairy farm, working his way up to manager before retiring in 1971. He lived in Deer Lodge since 1955.

He married Jenny Celesnik in Greenwood in 1929. They were later divorced. He married Enita Rogers in Missoula, Mont. in 1958. She died in 1971.

Survivors include a son, Dr. William Suda, Hamilton, Mont. a step-son, Charles Rogers, Hamilton, Mont. daughters, Lucille Stokes, Deer Lodge, Mont., Frances Gosse, Owen, and Jane Petersen of Withee, 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

The Rev. Samuel Beausoleil officiated at the services.

Rosary was recited Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.
