Hill, Ira W. (2 JUN 1803 - 5 FEB 1883)


Died, in this city, Feb. 5th, 1883, aged 79 years, 8 months and 3 days.

The deceased was born in Essex County, N.Y., June 2nd, 1803, and was married to Mary Hewett, whose death occurred in this city May 4th, 1881, in 1827. In 1835 he moved with his family to western New York, where he remained until 1847, when he became a resident of Eagle, Mich., where he remained until 1878, when he became a resident of this place.

The deceased was a man of sterling worth, and though called to his reward at a ripe old age, the announcement of his death will be received with regret by his wide circle of friends and acquaintances her and elsewhere. His illness, which was but the attendant of advanced age, dates from the 28th of last September, since which time, or the greater part thereof, he remained almost helpless.

He was the father of four children, three of whom are still living, viz: Emeline, wife of Hon. James Hewett, mayor of this city Elmeda, wife of Joseph Eddy, of Eagle, Mich., and Jerusha E., wife of Wells White, of Toulon, Ill., all of whom were with him during his last illness and at the time of his death. The daughter deceased with the wife of Charles Case, and the mother of Mr. Ira H. Case of this city.

The Funeral will take place from the Presbyterian church today at 2 o'clock P.M.
