Clark, Hannah ( 13 JUN 1815 - 3 OCT 1885)

Died, at her home in Neillsville, Oct. 3rd, 1885, Mrs. Hannah Clark, wife of W. F. Clark, aged 70 year, 3 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Clark was a native of Albany, N.Y. Although she had long been a resident of Wisconsin, her permanent stay in Neillsville had been only for the past three years. Having been in former years much with her daughter, Mrs. Dr. J.C. Lacy, she had made many warm friends in Neillsville previous to her coming here for a permanent home.

Having been married 49 years ago, another year of prolonged life might have realized the joys of a golden wedding. Of six children, two remain in the land of the living: Mrs. E. L. Wright, of Orfordville, Wis., and Mrs. Henry Myers, of Neillsville, Wis. Her remains were taken to her old home at Orfordville for interment. Brief funeral services were held at the residence on Monday afternoon, Rev. W.T. Hendren of the Presbyterian Church, officiating, in the absence of the pastor of the M.E. Church.

Her days of affliction were many and her suffering was most severe. A cancer rooted itself in one side of her jaw and there remained until its dreadful work was done. But during all her severe illness, she was patient and hopeful, as well as joyful. In her case the Gospel of Christ proved a sweet consolation. The Friend whom she had trusted and honored in brightest days was with her in the days of her anticipated departure. She had long been a member of the M.E. Church, in whose embrace she died. The husband and daughters have need, and will have abundant sympathy of numerous friends in this community. But the sweetest consolation comes from the thought that a dear one is forever at rest, free from the power of sin and sorrow, disease and death.
