Hemphill, Mrs. ( - 4 DEC 1889)

Mrs. Hemphill, mother of W. L. Hemphill, of this city (Neillsville, Clark County), died suddenly in La Crosse last Wednesday, from heart disease. The La Crosse Republican and Leader has the following concerning the deceased:

"She, with her husband, came from their home in Pennsylvania last June, intending to spend a year with their four children in this state. She was a person of very active and cheerful disposition, and up to within an hour of her death, was in her usual health and spirits. Mrs. Hemphill had gone with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter to an evening party, and while returning home, when near the corner of West and Cameron Avenues, she suddenly became unable to proceed further. She was carried into a friends house and a physician called, but she expired in less than an hour.
