Thorne, Bernice B. (11 Dec. 1903 - 18 July 1993)

Bernice V. Thorne, 89, Owen, Clark County, died Sunday, July 18, 1993, at Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 1993, at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen. Rev. Paul Kirker officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers were Dennis Wilson, Jerry, Aaron, Arlyn and Carl Thorne, and John Volk. Honorary pallbearer was Art Petersen.

Bernice Pyatt was born Dec. 11, 1903, in the Town of Beaver to Charles and Elthea (nee Stowe) Pyatt. She married Charles Thorne on Aug. 12, 19 , who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1982. She and her husband farmed in the Town of Hoard, rural Owen, since 1931. She entered the Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley, in Nov. 1992. She was a member of the Hixon-Hoard Homemakers Club and the United Church of Christ and Circle 3, Owen.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Thorne, Owen and Wilber Thorne, Wickensburg, Ariz. one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Joyce) Ellis, Arkdale, Wis. a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Thorne, Owen one brother, Clarence Pyatt, Portage nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband her parents one son, Floyd, on Dec. 29, 1974 and one sister, Myrtle L. Dempsey, who died on July 16, 1993.
