Bacon, Uretta (1816 - APR 1891)

Last week Mrs. L. M. Sturdevant and Mrs. D. E. Bailey received the sad news of the death of their mother, Mrs. Uretta Bacon, formerly of Neillsville, Clark County, but who has lived in California for the past four years. Her husband, Mr. Carson Bacon, died several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Bacon were among the oldest settlers in Clark County, coming her in 1854 or 1856, and will be remembered by the pioneers of this county. Mrs. Bacon dies at the age of 74 years of heart failure. The body arrived here on Monday for interment. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. G. Owen, at the Unitarian Church. Although the notice of the time of funeral services was very short, a large number of the older residents of the city and vicinity were in attendance to pay their last sad respects to an honorable woman and a kind neighbor.
