Tomac, Joseph John (3 Nov. 1914 - 3 March 1994)


Joseph John Tomac, 79, Greenwood, Clark County, died Thursday, March 3, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 1994, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Father Steve Baures officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Jay Stump, Marty Nigon, Reynold Syth, Allan Steffen, Bob Gregorich and LaVerne Gregorich.


Joseph John Tomac was born on Nov 3, 1914, in Greenwood, to Anthony and Julia (nee Ozbolt) Tomac.


He received his education in Greenwood. He worked for Greenwood area farmers until taking a job in the government C.C. Camps for two years. He then went to California and became an ironworker. He married Dorothy Wickersham on Oct. 5, 1940, in Placerville, Cal. She survives. They moved back to Greenwood and farmed until 1962. He then traveled all over the country from 1962 1980 working as an ironworker. In 1980 he retired and they moved back to Greenwood in 1984, and resided there until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.


Survivors include his wife two sons, Joe Tomac, Chicago, Ill. and Greg (Jean) Tomac, Eau Claire seven grandchildren one brother, Victor Perman, Minneapolis, Minn. and five sisters, Mary Maass, Withee Tina Hemersbach, Illinois Dede Nerbun, North Carolina Kay Speich, Greenwood and Margaret Meisner, Racine.


He was preceded in death by his parents one son, John and one sister, Ann Stephen.


Memorials given to the family would be appreciated.


Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
