Syth, Richard Alfred (1931 1994)


Richard Alfred Syth, 62, Greenwood, Clark County, died on Friday, May 6, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unite, Marshfield.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 1994, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Father Steven Baures and Father Roman Kaiser officiated.


Burial was in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Loyal. Full military rites were accorded by the Greenwood American Legion Post 238.
Pallbearers were Harvey Goeke, Dennis Lato, Don Fontaine, Dick Adler, Duane Bruseth and Craig Smith.


Richard Alfred Syth was born on Aug. 12, 1931, in Greenwood, to Vern and Alma (nee Roum) Syth. He received his education in Greenwood. He then entered the Marine Corp. He did farm work and then started to work at Clark Electric Cooperative in 1958, and worked there until his retirement in 1993. He married Evelyn Shupe on April 25, 1959, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. She survives. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Greenwood American Legion Post 238.


Survivors include his wife three daughters, Mrs. Judy (Mark) Shain, Willard Mrs. Pat (Jeff) Westbay, Stanley and Mrs. Chris (Tom) Roth, Loyal eight grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth Syth, Greenwood and Earl Syth, Spencer, Okla.


He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Dale Syth and one brother in infancy.


Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given, to be designated at a later date.
