Lewis, Delancey B. ( - Sep 1899)

Under the caption "Well Known Seattle Business Man Passes Away After a Brief Illness", the Post-Intelligencer, of Seattle, tells of the death of D. B. Lewis of that city. The wife of the deceased was a former Neillsville, Clark County lady, Ella E. Garvin, and the following account of his death will be of interest to many readers of this paper.

"Delancey B. Lewis, a well known citizen of Seattle, died at his residence, 510 Spring St., yesterday. He had been ill but a few days, and his condition was not considered at all serious. His death came almost without warning.

Mr. Lews was the son of Rev. Ammie M. and Hannah Heath Lewis. He was a native of Michigan and came to this state from Menomonie, Wis., nine years ago, engaging in the mercantile business in Skagit county. Seven years ago he was married to Miss Ella E. Garvin, of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., and three children are the result of this union.

For the past five years Mr. Lewis has been managing foreman for Ainsworth Dunn.

Mr. Lewis was a communicant of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and of Columbia Lodge, No. 2, Ancient Order of United Workman. He was a man universally esteemed by all who knew him, and his untimely death will be regretted by a large circle of friends.

The funeral services will be from St. Mark's Church, on Saturday morning next, and will be conducted by Rev. J. P. D. Llwyd, assisted by H. H. Gowen. Ritualistic services of the A.O.U.W. will be held at the cemetery, following the regular services of the church."
