Currier, Sophronia (11 Nov 1834 - 1 Mar 1900)

Sophronia Currier died at the family home in the city (Neillsville, Clark County), Thursday evening, March 1, 1900. For many years she had been in ill health and at times a great sufferer, but bore it so patiently that few outside of the household knew its seriousness. She was born at Skowhegan, Maine, Nov. 11, 1834. In 1881, she with her three sisters came to Neillsville, where their brother John had settled in 1856. Their home was built the years after the sisters came and there she lived for eighteen years. The sudden death of her brother John in 1898, and that of her nephew, Bernard Pulcifer, the following winter, were severe shocks to her as well as to the other members of the family, and this with her gradually failing strength reconciled her to parting with life and its scenes. Death found her at peace and ready to go. Of near relatives she leaves two brothers, one on the old farm near Skowhegan, the other in California also three sisters, Eliza Currier, Mrs. Frederick Reitz and Mrs. G. W. Trogner, all of this city. The funeral was held Sunday at the residence, Rev. A. B. Scoville officiating.
