The saddest hunting accident that has ever happened in this part of the country was Sunday, when Alvin Marquardt, the sixteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Marquardt, was killed by the accidental discharge of the gun he was carrying.

The young man with some more companions was hunting about four or five miles southwest of the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.), and having stopped to rest, he placed the butt of his gun, a heavy, large caliber rifle, on a log, from which it slipped, causing the hammer to strike the log and discharging it. The bullet passed through his body just below the heart and death came almost instantly.

The funeral was held Wednesday, a short service at the home being followed by a church service at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church at ten o'clock, Rev. F. H. Moecker officiating. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and the funeral was largely attended. Interment was made at Weyauwega, where the remains were taken the same day on the noon train.
