A Visit to Greenwood, WI
Hi Stan, Just wanted to let you know that my dad and I visited Greenwood last month. I called ahead and Lonna Klinke found someone to open the museum for us. It was a lot of fun and I picked up a History of Greenwood book and coffee mug. Found a picture on the wall of an 1880's or 90's class with my dad's aunt Faye Hunt in it. I spoke with the woman who opened the museum for us and told her about your Clark County website and she says she knows you. I think her name is Alice and she says you lived across the street from each other or something like that. She was so nice. We had lunch in a the Country Corner Cafe on the corner of Hunt St. I took a photo of my dad by the street sign. We found the Hunt family plot in the Greenwood City Cemetery and I took lots of photos. On the same trip we drove from Lake Wissota down into Monroe county to the village of Melvina (named after my great great grandmother) and I took photos of Hunt ancestors' graves there. We stopped in Sparta at the museum and the lady there that day was so enthusiastic about genealogy. She pulled out books for us and we made lots of photocopies. We found the cemetery in Leon and still more graveyard photos this time of my Joscelyne ancestors. It was a wonderful trip. I'm lucky my dad is interested as well. I just wanted to share that with you and let you know that what you've done at the Clark County website has helped me so much. Sincerely, Susan Williams nee Hunt San Diego |
