WANTED--News items from Colby & Abbotsford

Our database is in need of more information from the Northeastern portion of the county. We have been given permission from both the Colby and Abbotsford papers to use any items of historical interest as long as we only post them on our non-profit server and don't copy them to any commercial server. Stan is planning to begin extracting items from the very earliest Phonograph and Telegram papers some time next month. He has generally been cutting off his gleanings at about 1920. This leaves a big gap. If you happen to subscribe to either of these papers and are willing to help gather obits, marriages, anniversaries, and local items of historical interest (from the more current printings), please do type them up and post them as a volunteer. If you need help in getting started, just let us know. If you do not have time for transcribing, but are willing to clip the articles and forward them to others who can transcribe them, we are willing to ask for volunteers to work with you. Also, if you happen to have old articles pasted in scrapbooks, please do consider adding them to the database as well. We are planning to transcribe the Colby Memorial Cemetery within the next few months and these items will help us do that with far greater ease. Believe me, we need all the help we can get as this is a BIG project. Thanks, Janet |
