Publications offered by the Slovenska Druzba of Willard, Wisconsin. The Slovenska Druzba is an organization created by second generation Willard Pioneers to preserve their Slovenian culture and heritage. These pioneers sailed across the ocean to establish the town of Willard in 1907, and developed a farming community out of the Wisconsin wilderness. The club evolved from a Slovenian language course, which began in 1973; by 1975 the Slovenska Druzba Club was organized. Each summer on the third weekend in July, a picnic is organized and members worldwide meet to renew their acquaintances and discuss projects and share memories of growing up in Willard. In 1978 the Slovenska Druzba Club published a cookbook of recipes handed down by their pioneering parents and themselves handing down these recipes to their children. The cookbook offers a glimpse of life in the early days and contains recipes of ethnic foods from the homeland. Other recipes reflect food choices of the 1970’s in their ingredients and composition. The book contains the art of John and Ann Snedic. Kuharice iz Willarda Izdaja Slovenska Druzba Willard, Wis. In 1982, on the 75th anniversary of the founding of Willard, the Slovenska Druzba published a 220-page history of those who settled in Willard, a small farming community in Clark County, Wisconsin. The book contains an alphabetical listing of the pioneers with family history and many photos. A section with details of organizations, church, schools, and other elements of a community is also provided. The art of John Snedic is featured. This book belongs in the library of every Willard descendant or cultural anthropologist. Spominska Zgodovina (Historical Memories) Willard, Wis.
