There was a raffle held at Dr. Thomas’ drug store in Greenwood.  H. M. Root became winner of a full set of Dicken’s words, well bound, for the small sum of one dollar, by a score of 79 out of a possible 108 on a wheel of fortune.

Fish, Maxwell & Co., of Hickville, Ohio, has leased the mill on the west side of the river and will stock it and manufacture wooden handles of all descriptions.  The plant will be known as the Greenwood Handle Factory, and when fully established will give employment to 80 hands.  Source: Greenwood Gleaner, News.

The new Central Hotel in Greenwood is completed and ready to serve the public.  All rooms are heated, have hot and cold water and a toilet on both of the two floors.  There is a public bath in the basement.  The hotel is centrally located between the two banks, near the post office and city hall, in the Christ Wallenberg block.  An auto and team livery adjoins and there is bus service to all trains.  William Riley Howard & Son are proprietors.
