Reed School
to ring back some history on Sunday
The old Reed School is all set to ring in a new era in its proud history of serving the Neillsville area’s elementary education needs during the first half of the 20th century.
On May 26th, the former one-room schoolhouse received its crowning glory – an authentic school bell, ready to ring in the school building’s June 10th grand opening as the Wisconsin Historical Society’s 10th historic site in the state.

bell into the bell tower atop the Reed School.

This week,
Historical Society officials are putting in the final, finishing touches.
Following a 2 p.m. dedication ceremony on Sunday, June 10th, an open house for the community and the general public will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the school. Tours will showcase the renovated school inside and out.
The Reed School has already started resuming an educational role, reflecting its history as an elementary school from 1915 until it closed in 1951. It is now open for pre-scheduled school class visits.
In the future, the site will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from June 16th through Sept. 30th.
The Reed School is located two miles east of Neillsville at the intersection of US Highway 10 and Cardinal Avenue.
