Black River Falls

Sanford J. Stenulson, 81, of Black River Falls died Thursday, Oct, 1, 2009, in Black River Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Black River Falls on Nov. 7, 1927, to Samuel and Julia (Kalstad) Stenulson. He was raised in the Squaw Creek Area of Jackson County, Wis.

Sanford worked on farms and also at the former Jackson Box Co.

He loved to read western books. He enjoyed being outdoors and going for rides through Squaw Creek and Pine Creek.

Sanford was a compassionate and friendly man. He never complained, and he was well liked.

Surviving are his sister, Ruth Soper of La Crosse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Kenneth, Sanford, Mahlon, Lawrence, Irwin and Truman; and his sister, Esther Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct, 6, at Squaw Creek Lutheran Church, Hwy. P, rural Black River Falls. Pastor Calvin Thoreson will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
