Fern G. Meyers, 84, formerly of Plainfield, passed away peacefully Feb. 19, 2010.
She was born May 29, 1925, in Merrillan, the daughter of Harold and Stella (Hovland) Olson. Fern spent her childhood in Merrillan on a farm with her parents and six brothers and three sisters. She was baptized along with other family members at Our Fathers Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Fern married Leo Edward Meyers Sept. 14, 1946. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1983. She resided in Plainfield for about 32 years; prior to that she lived in Franklin. She loved fishing and sitting around a campfire with her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to seeing her brothers and sisters each year at the family reunion in Black River Falls.
She will be deeply missed by six daughters, Nancy (Lee) Szcyubialka, Wisconsin Rapids, Karen Meyers (friend Dave), Kellner, Judy Meyers, Milwaukee, Joanne Szymanski, Wisconsin Rapids, Sally Meyers (friend, Rick Roehl) Plainfield, and Penny (Joel) Christensen, Plainfield; two sons, William (Veronica) Meyers, Coloma, and Charles (Mary Lou) Meyers, Plainfield; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Knoll and Rojean McNulty, both of Black River Falls; two brothers, John Olson, South Carolina, and Gaylord Olson, North Dakota. She is further survived by other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield and at the Church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
