MOSINEE – Joseph Valenta, 59, of rotue 1, Mosinee, father of Joseph Valenta Jr. of 408 E. Grant St., Marshfield, died at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He had been in ill health for the past year.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mosinee. The Rev. John Speerstra, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Mosinee cemetery.

Friends may call at the Beste Funeral Home at Mosinee beginning at 7 p.m. today (Monday) and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A lifelong resident and farmer at Mosinee, Mr. Valenta was born Oct. 31, 1910. He was married there Oct. 17, 1936, to Elsie Mikes.

He was president of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association No. 4 Lodge of the same organization, and had served as a director of the Rocky Ridge Cheese Factory.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Jr., Marshfield; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hack, Wausau; five grandchildren; and a brother, William Valenta, route 1, Mosinee.
