Spencer: Becky Jean, 16-months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Engel was drowned when she fell into a lily pond near her father’s greenhouse between 2 and 3 p.m. Monday.

Becky Jean Engel, 16-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Engel, who live a mile west of Spencer in the town of Sherman, Clark county, was drowned Monday afternoon about 1:30 o’clock in a small pool in a rock garden at her home.

The little girl had gone out into the yard to play in the afternoon and the body was found about two o’clock by her sister, Catherine, 6, in the pool, which is about 22 inches deep.

The child was born June 17th, 1944, in Marshfield, and is survived by her parents and the sister.
