Kent W. Marohl, 35, of Boise, Idaho, and formerly of Stratford, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at U.S. Veteran's Medical Center in Boise due to complications following surgery.

Kent Walter Marohl was born Feb. 23, 1971, in Hancock, Mich., to Walter and Bernice "Bea" (Kane) Marohl. He was a 1989 graduate of Stratford High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for three years, serving during Desert Storm. After his honorable discharge he traveled around the United States living in San Francisco, Dallas and Anchorage, Alaska. He had recently been living in Boise, where he was working for the Washington Group International Engineering firm.

He enjoyed cooking and baking, often making things for his friends to brighten their day. He is survived by his parents, Wally and Bea Marohl of Stratford; his brother, Kyle (Kelly) Marohl of Plymouth; and his sister, Kristin (William) Schar of Marshfield. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Cecelia Marohl, and Roy and Lorraine Kane.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stratford. The Rev. Thomas J. Rudolph will officiate. Music will be provided by St. Joseph's Resurrection Choir and Paul Drexler.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. Pallbearers will be cousins, Mitchell, Matthew and Jeremy Marohl, Debbie Schoenfuss, April Marohl, Michelle Diethelm, Kevin Caebe, Jon Kane and Michael Marohl.

Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10:30 a.m. Friday until service time at the church. A parish prayer service will be at 4 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family will designate a memorial in his name at a later date.
