Glenda Lepak

Glenda Lepak, 70, Marathon, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, surrounded by her loving family after a yearlong, courageous battle with cancer. Glenda was born July 28, 1938, in Illinois, daughter of Lee and Betty Hicks. She attended grade school and high school in Milwaukee.

On Oct. 5, 1957, she and Marlin Lepak were married at Sacred Heart Parish in the town of Cassel. The couple made their home in South Milwaukee, where Glenda raised a family, was a stay-at-home mom, and then worked at various department stores. She went to technical school, where she learned to become a key punch operator. She was employed at First Wisconsin Bank in downtown Milwaukee. The Lepaks moved to Marathon in June 1972, where they farmed and raised ginseng. After retirement, Glenda worked at Mills Fleet Farm for seven years.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, going to the casino and spending time at the cottage on Lake Nokomis, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Glenda would have become a first-time great-grandmother in August 2009.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Marlin; she was the cherished mother of Dawn (Tim) Wadzinski and Roger (Jan) Lepak, both of Marathon, Gail (Jeff) Lensmire, Worthington, Ohio, and Bonnie (Drew) Hessedal, Antigo; loving grandmother of Shelley (James Harrison) Wadzinski, St. Francis, Jackie (Gus) Schmoll, New Franken, Richard (Kimberly Baur) Wadzinski, Marathon, Andy Wadzinski, Whitewater, Nick Wadzinski and Matt Wadzinski, both of Marathon, Felicia Lepak, Weston, Wis., and Grace Lensmire, Worthington, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Gary (Lindsey) Sulzer, Mosinee, Andy Sulzer, Milwaukee, and Rick (fiancé, Sara Workman) Sulzer and Tim (Amanda Nelson) Sulzer, both of Mosinee; sister-in-law, Doris Hicks, Finlayson, Minn.; and many other relatives and friends.

She will be sadly and greatly missed. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Hicks.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon.

Private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cassel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
