Pearl I. Emstrom, 103, Medford, died Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past six years, most recently under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Burial will be at Perkinstown Community Cemetery in the Town of Grover. Pallbearers are Bill Sarring, Fred Emstrom, Robert Andrews and Ned, Ted and Aaron Fischer.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Pearl Andrews was born September 17, 1906 in Hatfield to the late George and Mary (Strozewski) Andrews. She attended Knapp Elementary School in Jackson County. In 1923 her family moved to the Town of Grover.

On July 9, 1925 in Warrens, she married Edwin E. Emstrom, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 22, 1983. She cooked in the Perkinstown logging camps from 1925 to 1933. They farmed from 1935 to 1980 and owned a mink ranch while residing in the Town of Grover until entering the nursing home in 2004. For 23 years she cooked during deer hunting season for the Kenosha hunters in her home.

She was a member of Perkinstown Homemakers Club and various card clubs, and had served as clerk for Roosevelt School. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, gardening, dancing, cooking, baking, canning and playing cards.

Survivors include two daughters, Elin Sanders of Withee and Ella (Ted) Fischer of Perkinstown; a son, Edwin Jr. of Perkinstown; two sisters, Jeanette Hurtis of New Auburn and Marcella Geling of Assian, Iowa; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchilden; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred in 2002; a grandson, Robby Sanders in 1982; a great-grandson, Anthony Fischer in 1992; six brothers, Lrick, Claude, Robert, Raymond, Elwood and George Jr.; three sisters, Vida Butterfield, Eva Sackmann and Ruby Phillips; a son-in-law, Robert Sanders; and a daughter-in-law, Clara Elstrom.
