James R. Parrett, 69, Phillips, died Thursday, Dec. 31 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., following complications of a lung transplant three years ago.

He had been visiting his daughter in Wichita.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 8 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, with Rev. Mark Krueger officiating. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 54.

James Parrett was born December 28, 1940 in Sparta to the late Raymond and Frances (Montgomery) Parrett.

He attended Stratford High School, and served in the United States Navy.

After his discharge, he worked at Felker Brothers Manufacturing and then Kohs Machine Shop, both in Marshfield. He later worked in the engineering department at Weather Shield Manufacturing in Medford. He then began his own window manufacturing business, Parrett Manufacturing Inc., in Dorchester, in 1984 which he operated until retiring in 1995. In 1989 he moved to Solberg Lake in Phillips where he and Judy, his companion, were currently living.

He enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, boating, traveling, listening to country music and spending time with his family.

Survivors include Judy of Phillips; three children, Jacqueline (David) Saad of Madison, Jill (Lonnie) Schultz of DeForest and Kristie (Andy) Parrett-Brown of Wichita; Judy's children, Derek (Alicia) Dahl of Delafield, Dustin (Andrea) Dahl of Medford and Devin (Jenny Johnas) Dahl of La Crosse; a brother, Raymond (Audrey) of Eau Claire; four sisters, Shirley (Glenn) Spindler, Nell (Dale) Schwantes and Mary Parrett, all of Marshfield, and Susan (Roland) Farquar of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Tyler, Kelsey, Hannah, Carter, Tori, Jacob and Delaney; and Judy's grandchildren, Elliot, Gavin, Brody and Lincoln.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Mayo Clinic Transplant Unit in Rochester, Minn.
