----Berry, Marian E. (April 21, 1925 - September 13, 2008)

 

Marian E. Berry, 83, Medford, died Saturday, Sept. 13 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she had been a patient the past six days.

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Pete Warmanen officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Active pallbearers were her grandsons, Kurt, Chad and Clint Berry and Aaron, Cody and Kyle Stibbe. Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Berry and Cole Pyka.

 

The former Marian Smith was born April 21, 1925 in Springfield, Ill. to the late Neeley and Matilda (Krebs) Smith. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Illinois.

 

On June 28, 1947 in Baraboo she married Guy E. Berry, who preceded her in death on February 14, 1991. They owned and operated the Macky Spur Tavern in Ogema from 1960 until their retirement in 1970. She was a homemaker.

 

She was a past member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed, writing letters, reading, socializing, bingo, being outdoors, gardening and cardinals.

 

Survivors include her children, Ed (Nancy) Berry of Colby, Harold (friend Ellie) Berry, Rick (Deb) Berry and Dean (Jean), all of Medford, Jim (Diane) Burnett of Dawson, Ill., Mary Jo (Randy) Berry of Merrill, Barb (Greg) Stibbe of Rib Lake; Jeannie Berry of Stetsonville, Janet Berry of Arcadia and Diane (Bill) Hoyt of Portage; two stepchildren, Bob (Bev) Berry of McFarland and Mary Heim of Cuba City; a sister, Marge Rice of Springfield; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Clayton Guy Berry in 1976.

 

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
