David J. Dassow, age 71, of the Town of Mt. Morris, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at his residence.

He was born September 24, 1939 in Medford, the son of John and Elsie (Steinman) Dassow. He married Phyllis Schopper on October 6, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rib Lake.


David graduated from Medford High School in 1958. He served his country in the United States Army for two years. He worked at Bucyrus Erie, Highways Pavers and ended his bridge building career as a vice president of Zenith Tech, Inc.


David was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma for a number of years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.


He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Dassow, Town of Mt. Morris; his children, Steven Dassow, Renee (Dan) Doerr, Dana Semenske and Daniel (Kelly) Dassow; grandchildren, Brianna and Nicole Doerr, Jacob, Claire, Emma and Benjamin Semenske, Hannah and Ethan Dassow. He is survived by his brother, Leon Dassow; his sisters, Donna Nehring and Patricia (Ken) Walters; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Dassow, Eugene (Janet) Schopper, Harold (Janet) Schopper and Marlyn (Marie) Schopper; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin, John, Richard and Fred Dassow, and one sister, Sandra Dassow.


Funeral services for Mr. David J. Dassow were held on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church, Wautoma, with Rev. Roger Riedel officiating. He was laid to rest in Holden Lutheran Cemetery.


Memorials to St. Agnes Hospice Hope and Peace Lutheran Church are appreciated.


The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma assisted the family with arrangements.
