----Roush, Susan Carla Naomi (March 8, 1964 - July 23, 2008)

Susan Carla Naomi Roush, 44, Medford, died Wednesday, July 23 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford while recuperating from a stroke in early May.

Her funeral was held Monday, July 28 in the Chapel of Memories in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, Ill. The Rev. Philip Henselin, pastor of New Life Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill., officiated.

Susan was born March 8, 1964 in Belvidere, Ill. to James C. Sr. and Gloria (Loescher) Roush of Marengo, Ill. She attended Marengo area schools and graduated from Marengo Community High School in 1983.

She was employed at Pioneer Center in McHenry, Ill., for approximately 10 years prior to moving to the Medford area in 1996. She lived with her brother, Gene, in Stetsonville until she was able to find her own apartment and live independently which was her No. 1 wish in life. She continued to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and experienced a lot of 'firsts' during that time of her life. Susan's greatest joy, however, was working at Black River Industries (BRI) where she was employed for more than 12 years, making new friends and challenging the staff.

At the time of her death she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center. She especially enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics program and showing off her trophies and ribbons, and she equally enjoyed her volunteer time with the nursing home residents. Her hobbies also included crocheting, puzzles and writing to pen pals.

Survivors include her mother, Gloria Roush of Woodstock, Ill.; two brothers, Eugene (Carol) Roush of Stetsonville and Arlyn (Elizabeth) Roush of Woodstock, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and cherished friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her father, James C. Roush Sr.; and a brother, James C. Roush Jr.

Memorials in her honor may be given to Black River Industries.
