Michael B. Cihasky, 72, Rib Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 3 at his home, surrounded by his family and under hospice and palliative care.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 8 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Pallbearers were Geoffrey Henderson, Connor Henderson, Jake Schreiner, William Henderson, Mike Taake and Joe Schreiner.


Michael Cihasky was born on May 15, 1938 in Eau Claire to the late Bernard and Janet (Jopke) Cihasky. The family moved to Rib Lake in 1946 where he attended Ward Grade School and was a 1956 graduate of Rib Lake High School.


On July 5, 1958 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he married Judith Lee Kapitz, who survives. He was employed for 42 years with the Rib Lake Telephone Company, working as a lineman and in the office. He retired in 2000.


He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake Fish and Game where he was past president, and past member of Rib Lake School Board, Rib Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Monday evening Men's Bowling League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making fishing poles, woodworking, and spending time logging and at the cabin.


In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David (Teri) of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Christine (William) Henderson of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Laura (Mike) Taake of Mauston; a son-in-law, Joe Schreiner of Stetsonville; two brothers, Don (Eileen) of Tampa, Fla., and Steve (Lynn) of Rib Lake; 10 grandchildren, Geoffrey (Launa) Henderson, Kelsey and Connor Henderson, Mallory Taake, Jake, Katie and Alli Schreiner, and Meghan, Andrea and Ben Cihasky; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Schreiner on August 6, 2004.


Memorial contributions in his honor may be given to Hope Hospice or Rib Lake Fish and Game.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
