Dorothea Alvina Steinman, 92, Rib Lake, died Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Greenwood, with Rev. Carl Busse officiating. Interment was at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. Pallbearers were David Dassow, Fred  Klein, Mike Osowski, Steve Langteau, Roger Steinman and Gary Steinman.

The former Dorothea Kraus was born March 7, 1916 in the Town of Greenwood to the late Benjamin and Meta (Pollack) Kraus on the Kraus family homestead. She attended Green Grove Graded School, was a 1934 graduate of Medford High School and was a 1935 graduate of Taylor County Normal School.

On December 19, 1936 at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in Rib Lake, she married Herbert Fred Steinman, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1989.

She taught in many one room schools, including Buddy, Highland, Green Grove, Green Meadow and Rib River Graded Schools, as well as practice teaching at Fawn Valley Graded School.

She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years, and former member of the Little Bohemia Ladies Bowling League, bowling for the "Highway C's." She was also the scorekeeper and statistician for Interwald baseball for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette (Robert) Edelburg Sr. of the Town of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Kathy (Steve) Langteau of Stetsonville, Robert S. (Lori) Edelburg of the Town of Greenwood, Shirley (Mike Osowski) Edelburg of Minto, N.D., Roger (Beth) Edelburg of De Pere and Gary (Patty) Edelburg of Scandinavia; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mission to the Children or to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Sunday school program.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
