Frank "Bud" W. Wedeking, 86, of Hampstead, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester, Md.

Born April 7, 1923 in Chelsea, Wis., he was the son of the late William C. and Cora M. (Smith) Wedeking. He was born in Chelsea while his mother was there visiting her parents. They went back to Armstrong Creek where he was raised and attended Goodman High School in Goodman, Wis. In 1940 the family moved back to Chelsea and he graduated from Westboro High School in the class of 1942. He played bass drum in the high school band. He was the husband of Pauline "Polly" (Trimmer) Wedeking, his wife of 64 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army, and was stationed at the POW camp in Gettysburg, Pa. Prior to retirement in 1988, he was superintendent of buildings and grounds at The Friends School in Baltimore, Md., for 42 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and RV trailer to Florida for the winter.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially of the old Baltimore Colts and now the Ravens. He was also an avid woodworker. His biggest enjoyment was his magic tricks and jokes he did for his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gloria Wedeking of Westminster, Md.; daughter, Bonnie Boring and longtime companion, Paul Williams, of Hanover, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, William P. and Nikki Wedeking of Medford, Wis.; granddaughters, Andrea Wedeking and fiancé Eddie Saylor, and Aimee Kilgore and husband Shawn; and great-grandchildren, Madalyn Grace and Nicholas Andrew Kilgore.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Eline Funeral Home in Hampstead, with Deacon Charles Barnhart Jr. officiating. Interment was private.
