Ernest "Ernie" B. Mahner, 70, Dorchester, died Tuesday, Dec. 22 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. at Salem Methodist Church in Dorchester, with Rev., Dr. Michael Adedokun officiating, and full military rites conducted by Dorchester American Legion Post 517.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester, and at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Ernest Mehner was born June 25, 1939 in Dorchester to the late Ernest and Laura (Hurth) Mehner Sr. He graduated from Dorchester High School, then enlisted in the United States Army, and later served in the National Guard.
On July 25, 1964, he married Shirley A. Miller, who survives.
He worked for Conseco Equipment until retirement. He also repaired televisions and radios. He was involved with Dorchester and Medford Methodist churches, and was a 30 year member of Black River Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed helping with the Dorchester Museum.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Lori (James) Aldinger of Perkinstown and Matthew (Kelly) of Wausau; a sister, Rachel Jones of Milwaukee; a brother, Bruce of Colorado; three grandchildren, Andrea, Harley and Kendra Aldinger; a niece, Tammy Prough of Kansas; and his dog, Emma.
