Patrick Francis Kavanaugh, 58, Rib Lake, died Friday, Dec. 18 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Rib Lake United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dick Hartlerode officiating.
Patrick Kavanaugh was born January 27, 1951 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Edward and Irene (Franklin) Kavanaugh.
He attended grade school and high school in Illinois. A musician at the age of six, he was a singer and songwriter but first and foremost served God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. On July 7, 1987 in Cook County, Ill., he married Barbara Ann Kelly, who survives. He had been employed at various trucking companies.
He attended Rib Lake United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing country gospel music and had a 5th degree black belt, teaching Shaolin Kung Fu. He also taught self-defense to Cook Co. police officers and for 11 years, competed in Shaolin Kung Fu and kickboxing tournaments. He enjoyed sharing and teaching the Lord's Word.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Elvis "Toby" (Rose) and Tyrus "Ty" (Michelle) both of Huntley, Ill.; three daughters, Kelly (Chad) Coates of Streamwood, Ill., Coral Kavanaugh of Rib Lake and Adrienne Nicole; two brothers, Edward Jr. (Linda) of Hartford and John (Dorotha) of Winter; three sisters, Lorena (Adrian) Cornelius of Loretta, Carol Serna of West Bend and Kathleen (Jeff) Zunker of Texas; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Dylan Kavanaugh, Natalie, Leo and Colin Kavanaugh and Catie and Kyle Coates; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
