Maida Ann Werner, 86, Medford, died Saturday, Dec. 5 at Memorial Health Center in Medford.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake at a later date.
The former Maida Madson was born May 2, 1923 on the Madson family homestead in the Town of Hewitt, Marathon County, to the late Peter and Geneve (Kneiszel) Madson.
She attended grade school in the Hewitt area and Wausau, and was a 1941 graduate of Wausau High School. She moved to Milwaukee in 1942.
On December 25, 1946 at the United Methodist Parsonage in Milwaukee, she married Marlin Curran, who preceded her in death on January 2, 1968. They moved to Medford in 1951. On July 19, 1969 at a parsonage in Chippewa Falls, she married Milton Werner, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1992. She was employed with Taylor County Human Services for 18 years as an income maintenance worker.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Ladies Group. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting and reading.
Survivors include four step-children, Joanne (George) Loock, Jerry (Mary) Werner, Janet (Dan) Haenel and Jeffrey Werner, all of Medford; a brother, Peter (Marion) of Tautier, Miss.; a sister, Althea Carpenter of California; 10 step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to the family for future designation.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
