Bernard C. Korbitz, 74, Omaha, Neb., died Thursday, Oct. 29.
 
He was born in Lewistown, Mont. to Rev. Frederick and Rose (Ackmann)
Korbitz.
 
He graduated from Medford High School in 1953 and earned his bachelor's
degree in 1957 and medical degree in 1960 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
 
He served his internship at Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colo. from
1960 to 1961 and earned his master's degree in oncology in 1962 at UW-Madison. He served as captain in the United States Air Force from 1962 to
1964 where he was chief of outpatient services at Randolph Air Force Base in
San Antonio, Texas. He served his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver from 1964 to 1966; served as assistant professor of medicine and clinical oncology at UW-Madison from 1967 to 1970; was a staff member at Monona Grove Clinic in Madison from 1970 to 1971; was director of medicine at Presbyterian Medical Center in Denver from 1971 to 1973; had a private practice in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine in Madison from 1973 to 1976; was a medical oncologist at Radiological Center, Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb. from 1976 to 1982;
had a private practice of medical oncology and hematology in Omaha from 1982
to 1995; and retired in 1995.
 
In 1998 he was inducted into the Medford Area Senior High Sports Hall of
Fame.
 
Survivors include his wife, Constance; two sons, Paul and Guy (Nancy); a
brother, William of Louisville, Colo.; a sister, Deborah of Peoria, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
