James A. Jahnke, 69, Gilman died Wednesday, Sept. 15 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Gilman, with Rev. Gary Paul officiating.


The Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

James A. Jahnke, age 69, of Gilman, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, with his family by his side.

Jim was born October 13, 1940 in Monticello, MN, the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Anderson) Jahnke.

James graduated from UW-Eau Claire and taught business at Gilman High School for the majority of his teaching career. He also had Yonks Bar in Gilman and expanded that business to include the bowling alley. Jim was an outdoorsman at heart, loving to fish, hunt and make wood. Yonk was a member of the Gilman Lions and the Miller Dam Lake Assoc.

Jim is survived by his children, Robyn Criego of Eau Claire, Jeff Jahnke of Eau Claire and Kalen Jahnke of Holcombe; two grandchildren, Austen and Elizaebeth Jahnke; one sister, Monyne (Dave) Cotton of Ari.; and two brothers, Michael (Sue) Jahnke of Burnsville, MN, and Thomas (Dee Daniels) Jahnke of Buffalo, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Diana Jahnke.

Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Gilman, on Monday, Sept. 20th. The Rev. Gary Paul will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of services Monday at the Church.

The Gilman Funeral Home is assisting the family.

A celebration of Jim's Life will follow at Dot and Jerry's Ballroom.
