Dorothy M. Gruhlke, 80, Withee, died Monday, Sept. 28 at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Marshfield, where she had been taken earlier by ambulance.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway, with Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman
officiating. Burial will be at Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of
Holway. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Wayne, Chad, Allen and
Jonathon Gruhlke, Tracy Kautzer and Harley Fleming.
 
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time
of the service.
 
The former Dorothy Becker was born August 8, 1929 in Marathon County to the
late Herman and Anna (Boehm) Becker. She attended elementary school in
Athens. She lived and worked on her parents' dairy farm.
 
On June 19, 1954 in Athens, she married Clifford C. Gruhlke, who preceded
her in death on December 25, 1997. They raised mink in the Town of Holway.
 
She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. In her earlier years, she
enjoyed fishing and visiting people with Clifford. She enjoyed gardening,
flowers, country living, raising chickens and small livestock, and visits
from her children and grandchildren.
 
Survivors include 12 children, Shirley Gruhlke, Leon and Clifford, all of
Withee, June (Dean) Kautzer, Lester and Ronny, all of Medford, Dorothy J.
Fleming and Randy, both of Loyal, Violet (Dan) Coons of Chandler, Ariz.,
Garry (Darla) of Edgar, Terry of North Carolina, and Cory (Susan) of
Stanley; two brothers, Dale (Sally) and Delmar (Marilyn), both of Wausau;
three sisters, Irma (Lee) Parmer of Mattoon, Verna Groff of Medford and
Marcella Cook of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Evangeline Becker of
Medford; 18 grandchildren, Heather (Tim) Hacker, Tracy Kautzer, Wayne and
Chad Gruhlke, Harley, Charlie and Brian Fleming, Allen, Jonathon and Brent
Gruhlke, Cody, Skylar, Stanley and Casey Gruhlke, Justin, Kiersten and Jake
Coons and Tom Gruhlke; and four great-grandchildren, Paige and Blake Gruhlke
and Alexander and Kaitlyn Hacker.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers,
Alfred and Orville.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family to be designated at
a later date.
