Donald J. Marthaler, 74, Brokaw, died Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wausau, with Rev. William Grevatch officiating. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park.
Donald Marthaler was born October 22, 1934 in Goodrich to the late Chester and Helen (Kittl) Marthaler.
He attended Athens High School and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He served in the United States Marine Reserves and retired from Marathon Electric.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Trailmates Snowmobile Club, charter member of Rudy's Spike Bucks in Glidden and served on the Brokaw village board.
Survivors include his wife, Rita (Vesely) of Brokaw; two daughters, Gwen (Dale) Albrecht and Christine (Steve Schreiber) Marthaler, both of Wausau; a son, Robert of Madison; nine stepchildren, Wade (Mary) Hummer of Mukwonago, Roxanne (Don Jr.) Klejsmit and Eric Hummer, both of Muskego, Donna (Bryan) Neitzel, Craig (Kim) Hummer and Mark (Cindy) Hummer, all of Waterford, Connie (Gary) Lelivelt, East Troy, Denise (Robert) Widenski of Oak Creek and Kathy (Roger) Pluer of Big Bend; seven sisters, Eva (Anton) Molitor and Ethel Belter, both of Medford, Alice (John) Rivers of Minnetonka, Minn., Laura Lee (Jim) Nelson and Kathy (John) Olkowski, both of Three Lakes, Marlene (Glenn) Felix of Altoona, and Joan (Terry) Schlag of Woodruff; five brothers, Phillip (Susan) and Leon (Linda), both of Athens, Roger of Merrill, Terry (Corinne) of Cedarburg and David (Laura) of Mosinee; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Adeline (Vesely) Marthaler; two sons, Russell and Scott; and a sister, Barbara Marthaler.
Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home of Wausau assisted the family with arrangements.
