Victor Gilbert Brahmer, 82, Lakeside, Ariz., died Wednesday, July 22 at his home.  

A memorial service was held at Hawley Lake in the White Mountains of Arizona.

Victor Gilbert Brahmer, 82, of Lakeside, AZ, died on Wednesday, July 22 at his home, surrounded by his family.  

He was the beloved spouse for over fifty years of the late Virginia Klemm Brahmer.  

Victor was born in Medford, Wisconsin on April 7, 1927, the son of Anton and Gertrude Brahmer.  

He served in the U.S. Army as a veteran of World War II.  

After the war, he worked as a lumber grader at Hurds Mill in Medford, Wisconsin.  

Moving his family to New Mexico and then to Arizona, Victor worked as a foreman lumber grader at the Duke City Lumber Company, first in Albuquerque, and later in Winslow, AZ. He then obtained a position as the head of Quality Control at the Fort Apache Timber Company on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Whiteriver, AZ.  

Working in this position, he achieved status as a Master Lumber Grader, also serving as the representative of the Southwestern U.S. for the Western Timber Association.  

Victor and Virginia Brahmer were loving parents to five children which included 4 adopted children from multi-racial backgrounds. In addition, they took in and helped raise 6 foster children. Their household consisted of children who were Caucasian, African-American, and Native American, including Pottawatomies, Acomas, Apaches, Zunis, and Navajos.  

Victor loved baseball and softball, which he played and managed for many years. He loved the outdoors and was an expert fisherman. He was a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 50 years. He will be missed for his great joy of life, his compassion, humility, loyalty, sense of humor, goodness and integrity. He was a man who brought quiet peace and joy to others, wherever he worked and lived.  

Throughout his life, he helped many people and had many friends. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all.  

Victor Brahmer is survived by his older brother, Chester Brahmer, of Interwald, Wisconsin, and by four of his children: Geoffrey Brahmer of Arlington, MA, Leroy Brahmer, Los Angeles, CA, Laura Brahmer and Rhoda H. Lee of Lakeside, AZ.  

Surviving grandchildren include Lacey Reynolds and Victoria Lee, Lakeside, AZ, Christopher Perkins, Utica, NY, Danielle Brahmer, Los Angeles, and Kianni and Kyler Brahmer, Albuquerque, NM. There are also two great-grandchildren Rylee and Madison Perkins in Utica, NY.  

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia, two brothers, Aaron and Aubrey Brahmer, and three adopted / foster children, John Kaquotosh Brahmer, Rommel Kaquotosh, and Winifred Holden.  

A memorial service was held for family and friends at Hawley Lake in the White Mountains of Arizona, one of Victor's favorite fishing spots.
