----Lewan, Dolores A. (Dombrowski) (July 17, 1932 - July 12, 2009)  

 

Dolores A. Lewan, 76, Gilman, died Sunday, July 12 at her home surrounded by her family and under hospice care.  

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 15 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Polish National Cemetery in Lublin. Pallbearers were Mike and Barry Urbas, Vic and Don Dombrowski, Ed Robaczewski and Levi Baber. 

 

The former Dolores Dombrowski was born July 17, 1932 in the Town of Roosevelt to the late Anton and Phyllis (Piwoni) Dombrowski. She was a 1950 graduate of Gilman High School. 

 

On September 22, 1951 at St. Mary's Polish National Church in Lublin, she married Clarence Lewan, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1989. They owned and operated the IGA Store in Gilman for 30 years. 

 

She was a member of Gilman Red Hat Society, past member of Red Eyes Ski Club of Eau Claire, Gilman Lioness, and Gilman Community Choir, and was a Brownie troop leader. She enjoyed traveling and in her younger years she enjoyed skiing and riding bike. 

 

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Lewan of Jump River; a son Jeff of Holcombe; two brothers, Edward (Doreen) of Wausau and Leonard (Theresa) of Thorp; three grandchildren, Jessica (Levi) Baber of Columbus, Ohio, Ryan (Dustine) Holup of Mansfield, Ohio and Kendra Geissler of Cadott; and three great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Victor. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family to be designated at a later date.
