----Haizel, Rudolph (March 26, 1915 - June 29, 2009) 

 

Former Town of Holway resident Rudolph "Rudy" J. Haizel, 94, Medford, died Monday, June 29 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past nine months.  

 

Per Rudy's request, there will be no services. Burial will be in Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. 

 

Rudolph Haizel was born March 26, 1915 at Mayville to the late Joseph and Eva (Vievader) Haizel.  

 

He was educated in Lublin elementary schools. He served in the Perkinstown Civilian Conservation Corps camp. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945, with duty in France and Germany. 

 

His marriage to Helen D. Hierlmeier, who survives, took place May 21, 1942 at Reno, Nev.  

 

After the war, he worked in Chicago, Ill. He returned to the Medford area and worked at Hurd Millwork. He then worked in the Hibbing, Minn. taconite mines for a period of time. He was a longtime farmer in the Town of Holway. While farming, he worked for 21 years at Wisconsin Industrial Truck Co. in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed wood crafting and making fire wood. 

 

In addition to his wife of Holway, survivors include his children, Linda (Gary) Tomaszewski of Tempe, Ariz., Vince (Bev) of West Bend, Joanne (Larry) Gowey of Lindsey, Beverly (Rick) Duesing of Medford, Jim and Roger (Lori), both of Withee; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ray on November 3, 1977; three sisters, Mary, Clara and Eva; and seven brothers, John, Frank, Joseph, Andrew, Augustus, Fredrick and Jacob.  

 

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.
