(Raasch) Riemer (June 26, 1925 - May 25, 2009) Carol V. Grunwald, 83, Medford, died Monday, May 25 at her home surrounded by her family and under hospice care. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Entombment will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd in Green Bay on Monday, June 1 at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be her step-grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Trenton, Adam and Patrick Grunwald and Cadie Smith. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with a Medford VFW and Stetsonville American Legion Auxiliary service at 6:45 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., and at the funeral home on Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The former Carol Raasch was born June 26, 1925 in the Town of Deer Creek to the late Reinhard and Esther (Ellingson) Raasch. She attended Liberty School in the Town of Deer Creek. After school she worked in the Milwaukee area. On November 1, 1945 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, she married Harry Riemer, who preceded her in death on June 4, 1979. They lived in Medford and she was a housewife, then moved to the Catawba area where she helped her husband at the Catawba Farmer's Co-op, then to the Green Bay area where they ran various cheese factories until his retirement. After her husband's death, she moved back to the Medford area and on January 31, 1981 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church married Howard "Howie" W. Grunwald, who survives. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Stetsonville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and traveling. In addition to her husband Howard, survivors include her children, Sandra (Norman) Peters of Suamico, Terrance (Bev) Riemer of Brillion, Marge (Stuart) Carpenter, Bonita Riemer and Patrick Riemer, all of Green Bay, Michael (Deb) Riemer of Medford and Russel (Kathy) Riemer of Ossian, Ind.; stepchildren, Janice (Gary) Nance of Benicia, Calif., and Ruth Roeber, James (Sharon) Grunwald, Joseph (Peggy) Grunwald and Anne (fiancé Ken Jascor) Smith, all of Medford; a brother, Bill (Joyce) Raasch of Dorchester; 9 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elvin, Reinhard and Melvin.
