(February 5, 1941 - May 19, 2009) Jerry C. Joles, 68, Medford, died Tuesday, May 19 at his home surrounded by his family and hospice staff. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. David Clements officiating. A luncheon and gathering will be held at the Last Resort in Stetsonville. Cremainal inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Jerry Joles was born February 5, 1941 in Janesville to the late Darward and Margaret (Salaway) Joles. His mother died when he was a young boy and he was raised by his Aunt Helen and Uncle Gus Blake. He attended Janesville area schools. On January 5, 1963 he married Judith Veldboom and they later divorced. On June 14, 2003, he married Dawn A. Grueneberg, who survives. He worked at Wisconsin Bell in Janesville, Racine and Milwaukee for 35 years until his retirement in 1991. They then moved to the Medford area and during retirement he worked at O.K. Tower Service in Perkinstown. He was a member of Kathryn Lake Association. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, the outdoors and collecting Lionel trains. In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Cheri (Tim) Krause of Middleton, Tracy (John) Drill of Madison, Wendy (Mike) Kraemer of Stetsonville, Scott (Tara) of Wisconsin Dells and AnnMari of Medford; a stepson, Nicholas Dolan of Medford; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Joles in infancy in 1985; and a grandson, Nicholas Krause in April 2003. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.hemerfuneralservice.com.
