(March 4, 1926 - April 26, 2009) Floyd A. Querin, 83, Medford, died Sunday, April 26 at his home, surrounded by his family and under hospice care. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford, with full military rites performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Pallbearers were David, Dan and Gary Kapfhamer, Bill and Ron Hayden and Bill Skarlupka. Floyd Querin was born March 4, 1926 in Medford to the late Angelo "Andrew" and Caroline L. (Kowalski) Querin. He attended Medford area public schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific. After his time in the service, he worked in Texas building grain elevators, for Eau Claire Engineers building bridges, then for Neuendorf Trucking in Medford. On August 9, 1952 in Medford, he married Regina T. Meyer, who preceded him in death on February 22, 2006. They started their own business called Querin's Service, Auto Repair, Service Station, Used Car Dealership and Tavern, then in 1976 he started driving truck for Tombstone Pizza until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing to polka and big band music in his earlier years. Survivors include a sister, Angie (Ed) Kapfhamer of Medford; five brothers, Verdie (Jan) of Kent, Wash., Eugene (Carol) of Medford, Ted of Davenport, Iowa, Jerry (Jeanne) of New Berlin and Jim of Lytle, Texas; a sister-in-law, Evangeline Querin of Jackson, Miss.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Larry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Hope Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.hemerfuneralservice.com.
