(4 Oct. 1936 – 19 Aug. 1999) Gail M. Lewandowski, 62, Town of Medford, died Thursday, August 19, at St. Joseph's Palliative Care in Marshfield. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Rev. Dennis Meulemans officiating. Pallbearers were Michael and Peter Lewandowski, Todd Peissig and Neil Witte. Cremainal interment will be held in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Ashland at a later date. Visitation and a Prayer service were held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. The former Gail M. Bartol was born October 4, 1936, in Ashland to Edward and Helen (Dietz) Bartol. She graduated in 1954 from DePadua High School, Ashland, and in 1958 from Northland College, Ashland, with a bachelor's degree in math, biology and German. She received post graduate credits from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her marriage to Walter B. Lewandowski took place on August 1, 1964, in Ashland. She taught in the Elroy School District for six years. In 1964, she began teaching mathematics at Medford Area High School. She taught from 1964 to 1966 and again from 1986 until the present. She enjoyed doing genealogy. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a former CCD teacher and a member of the Board of Education. She also was a member of the Medford, Wisconsin and National Education Associations, of both the Wisconsin and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and of the Taylor County Genealogical Society. Survivors include her parents, Edward and Helen Bartol of Ashland; her husband, Walter; two sons, Michael (Dawn) of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Peter (Jill) Lewandowski of Antigo; and two sisters, Connie (Dan) Rabideaux of Duluth, Minn., and Karen (Richard) Woodford of Marshfield.
