Rib Lake native Marvin Lyman Winkler, 72, of St. Paul, died Monday, August 16, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake with Rev. John Meyer officiating.

Burial was held in Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Military Honors were conducted by the Lehman-Clendenning American Legion Post 274 of Rib Lake.

Marvin L. Winkler was born June 25, 1927, in Rib Lake to Walter and Nancy (Johnson) Winkler. He attended grade school and high school in Rib Lake. He served in the US Army during World War II and received an Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, a Victory medal and an Army of Occupation medal.

He was employed as a mail clerk with the US Postal Service in St. Paul for 28 years. He enjoyed traveling, going for walks and visiting. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post and the American Legion Post, both in St. Paul.

Survivors include a brother, Harold Winkler of Rib Lake; and a special friend, Pearl Callahan of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eileen Winkler; and one brother, Carl Winkler.
