Obit: Werner, John (1854? – 1921)
Surnames: Werner, White ----Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 09/22/1921 ----Werner, John (1854? – 8 Sept. 1921) John Werner passed away last Thursday, Sept. 8, at his home at Medford after a long lingering illness with cancer. He was sixty-seven years old and is survived by his wife and seven children. Funeral services will take place at Marathon Monday. The deceased is well known in this community where he lived on his farm about five miles south of Marathon on Range Line. He served as sheriff of Marathon county for one term. The sympathies of their numerous old friends and neighbors at Marathon are extended to the bereaved family. --Marathon Times Mr. Werner was proprietor of the old Commercial hotel here several years ago, having purchased the same from N. J. White. During the time of his residence in Colby he made many friends who will regret to learn of his death.
