----Habermeyer, Mike (9 Mar. 1907 – 24 Sept. 1945)

Mike Habermeyer, 40, Stetsonville, was killed instantly Monday afternoon at about 2 o’clock in a silo filling accident on the Lawrence Eton farm, five miles west of Stetsonville.

The accident victim was feeding the machine when the apron of the machine caught his hand, pulling him into the cutting knives before the machine could be stopped. A neighbor, Otto Dake, threw the machine out of gear after the tractor was stopped.

Coroner Earle Ruesch and Sheriff E. Dietzman were called to the scene of the accident and declared his death accidental.

The deceased was born in the town of Little Black on March 9, 1907. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. William Habermeyer, with whom he made his home south west of Medford; by three brothers and three sisters: Jacob, Abbotsford; John, Stetsonville; Thomas, Medford; and Mrs. Leo Langteau, Mrs. Mary Paul, and Mrs. Harry Rhyner, all of the Stetsonville community.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Habermeyer, and by a sister, Martha, some years ago.

Funeral services were held this morning at 10:00 o’clock at the Stetsonville Catholic church and burial was made in the Stetsonville cemetery.
