Marvin Bernard Kurth, 75, Ogema, died in the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Sunday, July 15, 2007. He was born in Medford on October 8, 1931, the son of Frank and Martha (Weyers) Kurth.

He was married to Esther Pearson on January 2, 1954 in Catawba. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1987. He was married to Frances “Dolly” Petruzalek on August 22, 1991 and they later divorced. He operated a dairy farm in the Town of Ogema and was employed by Blount of Prentice as a welder for over 25 years. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church of Westboro, and in recent years of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church of Phillips. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, working with his work horses and attending polka dances.

He is survived by seven children: Gary (Carol), of Prentice, Cindy (Myron) Miller, Medford, Joyce (Craig) Cummings, Ogema, Allen (Michelle), of Gilman, Dean (Mary), Ogema, Dale (Vicki) of Kennan and Ken, of Ogema; by grandchildren: Amy (Todd) Foster, Michael Kurth, Melissa (John) Peterson, Clayton Miller, Justin (Melissa) Heizler, Landon Colten Cummings, Kaylee Kurth, MaKade Kurth, MaKenna Kurth, James Kurth, Cassy Kurth, Jordan Kurth, Trista Kurth, and Kori Kurth; by great-grandchildren: Kyler, Trevor, and Gavin Patterson, Lea, Graden and Ayriel Foster, and Lainie and Dawson Heizler; by one brother, Jerome, of Marshfield; and three sisters: Rita Simurdiak, of Medford, Joyce Lukes, Ogema, and Maryann Protovinsky, Kennan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, two grandchildren, Ryan Miller and Jayce Kurth; two sisters, Kathryn Koehler and Patsy Patterson and by a brother, Vince Kurth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Ogema. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home in Prentice at 7 p.m. with Deacon James Celba officiating.

The Heindl Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
